that repayment should be made in dollars.
In view, however, of the fact that
Hong Kong is waiving any payment of
interest on the repayment he must ask
that the method of calculation suggested
by the Governor in paragraph 3 of the
enclosed despatch should be adopted,
assuming that it is more favourable
to the Colony, unless indeed on
re-consideration the Army Council are
prepared to make the repayment in
sterling.

At the end of paragraph 4
of his despatch the Governor refers
to the repayment in sterling of an
overpayment of a military contribution
by the Straits Settlements.
